C. C. Davie’s debut novel, Heliacle Rising, the first book in The Wytchling Chronicles, will come out in September 2022.
In the world C. C. Davie created, there are humans, wytchlings, and a few magical creatures, including a sylkie, a flying creature that, if it accepts you, will fly you into battle.
Though the book has several points of view, the central point of view is Amylia Sylvers. At a young age her parents are killed, and a neighboring ruler takes in her and her brother to keep them safe.
Years later, the wytchlings, people with powers, come to the ruler who took her in to create a treaty. They have a common enemy, and joining forces just makes sense. As in many good stories, this is just the beginning of good things.
I have had the pleasure of being given an advance copy of this story and C. C. Davie has created a world that is lush and believable. The characters each bring a unique perspective to the world that makes the reader want to read more. And, to end my pride month recommendations, this book definitely brings the LGBTQ+ to the table. C. Davie brings a new, free way to look at love, that is refreshing.
